Student Doctor Aspynn Owsley
Northwest Osteopathic Foundation General Scholarship Recipient
Aspynn Owsley is a medical student at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM), where she stands out for her academic excellence, compassion, and lifelong commitment to service.
Service is not something Aspynn does occasionally — it is central to who she is and how she intends to practice medicine. As Treasure Valley Volunteer Coordinator for Iota Delta, she has led countless outreach efforts supporting underserved children and families through organizations like Foster + Heart, YMCA Fireflies, and Idaho Children Are Primary.
At Foster + Heart, Aspynn coordinates volunteer efforts for children entering foster care—organizing donation drives, helping at events, and providing direct support to children in transitional settings. Her care ensures they feel safe, seen, and loved during moments of uncertainty.
Through Fireflies, a YMCA program for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, she provides respite care that offers families rest and individuals connection and dignity. These experiences have strengthened her empathy, patience, and understanding of health as physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Aspynn also advocates for systemic change through Idaho Children Are Primary, working on legislative awareness campaigns to improve outcomes for Idaho’s most vulnerable youth. She has helped communicate the importance of housing, education, and stability as social determinants of health.
Dedicated to pediatrics, Aspynn hopes to return to Idaho to care for children and families in underserved communities—combining advocacy, compassion, and holistic, osteopathic care.
